Black & White
Posted: July 11, 2018 Filed under: digital, effects, Landscape, Nature, photography, Trees, Uncategorized, wildlife | Tags: black& White, creativity, infrared, photography, photos Leave a commentIn looking back over the pics I’ve posted here, I realised to my surprise, that I’ve never done a post solely of my black and white images. So, as I’ve recently gathered some black & white and infrared pics into their own folder on my computer, it seems a logical follow- on to post some here: all taken at the Ifield Mill Pond & Bewbush Water Gardens.
Well – there we are folks …. the last few I used an ‘infrared’ effect on in my Paintshop Pro software, because I love the sunny, soft look it gives !
See you soon, Eileen
Tulips and Other Flowers
Posted: May 14, 2018 Filed under: Fine Art, Flowers, photography, Plant Portraits, Still Life, Uncategorized | Tags: art, colourful, Flowers, photography, still life, tulips 4 CommentsI like the drama of a black background, it seems to make the colours more vibrant …. the light is just from a small window.
variation on the theme ….
That’s all for now folks, thank you for your visits and ‘likes’ – they are much appreciated. See you again soon I hope, Eileen
Roses and Orchids
Posted: April 2, 2018 Filed under: Flowers, macro, Nature, photography, Plant Portraits, Roses, Uncategorized | Tags: Flowers, macro, Olympus camera, Orchids, photography, roses 1 CommentIt was my Birthday and Mothers’ Day in quick succession this year , so I had lots of flowers, of which these are a sampling, to keep me happy with my camera !
As they are all ‘cultivated’ florist flowers/plants, I can’t give their botanical names – only that they are Roses and Orchids – but you already know that …Lol!
It’s a rainy day again today, so not much hope of me venturing out , but at the moment there’s plenty to keep my interest indoors. Living in a flat can feel quite isolated at times, but the Lord always manages to lift my spirits and there’s nothing like His beautiful flower designs to do that is there? I’m so glad He made us creative beings !
See you soon, Eileen
Catching Up!
Posted: March 23, 2018 Filed under: digital, Flowers, macro, photography, Plant Portraits, Roses, Uncategorized | Tags: close up, creativity, Flowers, Lensbaby, macro, photography 3 CommentsAfter a long absence from My Photo Blog, but not my camera, I’ve quite a bit of catching up to do here!
I thought I would start with some pics taken with my new Lensbaby Composer Pro 35mm. I’ve found it difficult to get the hang of, but when I get it right I’m very pleased with the artistic results ….
The lens itself is moveable so that you can choose the part of the subject you want in sharp focus. Much depends on your distance from the subject as well as the f/ used. For ages I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t change my f/ number using the usual dial on my camera, till I realised I had to change it on the actual Lens – silly me !
It seems particularly suited to flower subjects – at least it is regarding the 35mm. Lensbaby have a whole variety of different lenses available and I’d hankered after owning one for ages, but as I can’t necessarily see the subtle differences between them and they tend to be very expensive, I don’t think it will be likely that I will buy any more – I’m very happy with what I’ve got ! I’d treated myself to this one as a Christmas pressy.
Ha ha – this looks like a rogue macro of the same rose, but no matter – I’ll need to look up the techy info to check, which I can’t seem to locate here ….
Well, I’ll leave it at that for now and will post some more macro flowers next I think. Bye for now, Eileen
Love-in-a-Mist
Posted: May 29, 2017 Filed under: Fine Art, Flowers, macro, Nature, photography, Plant Portraits, Uncategorized | Tags: Flowers, garden, macro, nature, photography 6 CommentsFor some reason or other my energy levels seem to have taken an upward turn recently – maybe it’s the effect of the lovely sunshine we’ve been having or the fact that my frequent ailments seem to have spent themselves for a while …. not only that – the garden has suddenly come to life with poppies and roses and has inspired my hobby!
However – I’ve chosen to entertain ya’ll with pics of a wild flower I spotted on the other side of my fence. I think it’s Love-in-a-mist but p’raps someone could enlighten me?
I’ve titled the one above ‘Catching the Drops’ because it looks as if there are a couple of tiny hands holding on to the water-drop!
That’s about it I think …. hope you like them!
Many blessings, Eileen
Shades of White
Posted: May 7, 2017 Filed under: effects, Fine Art, photography, Still Life, Uncategorized | Tags: creativity, Fine Art, objects, photography, still life, white 1 CommentThis is my second attempt at posting this – very frustrating as I’d done the whole thing and even posted it, but there was a long, long blank insert on it that I couldn’t get rid of. So I had to delete it all …. apologies to anyone who’d already viewed it!! Let’s hope this one will be successful cos I might just go out and shoot myself !
I really like doing white on white, high key pics – especially as I seem to have accumulated a collection of white ‘objects d’Art’ – posh word for bric-a-brac ! Actually, some pieces are really nice …. this little lady was a recent birthday pressy and the cup and saucer are Coalport ‘Country Ware’.
It’s gawn ‘n put ’em in the wrong order now!! The Deer pics are supposed to follow each other and the Swan with border should’ve been 3rd – grrrr Ne’ mind eh? Lol !
Birthday Flowers
Posted: March 25, 2017 Filed under: digital, Fine Art, Flowers, macro, photography, Plant Portraits, Roses, Uncategorized | Tags: art, Flowers, macro, photography, roses 5 CommentsWell, would you believe it – I celebrated my 80th Birthday recently ! I have very mixed feelings about that …. but I had some truly lovely gifts and lots of flowers. Flowers, for me, are not something to simply leave in a vase – I love to let myself loose with my camera on them. Macro photography comes into its own and I also get trigger-happy with my little water spray bottle …. so here are a few resulting pics :
I hope to post more tomorrow – Mother’s Day flowers have arrived too! Lol….
Stitch
Posted: November 29, 2016 Filed under: effects, Embroidery, macro, photography, Uncategorized | Tags: creativity, Embroidery, gold, macro, photography, photos, red 3 CommentsThese pics were my interpretation of a Flickr macro theme called ‘Stitch’. They are of a lovely Christmas table runner that I bought a few years back…..
On the last one I added a ‘glow’ effect called deep forest which I thought rather suited this embroidered leaf. I used to love doing embroidery myself in my younger days, but sadly arthritis caused me to give it up …. but I can do photography instead !
As always – thanks for dropping by, Eileen
Shell Abstracts
Posted: November 26, 2016 Filed under: Abstract, macro, Nature, photography, Uncategorized | Tags: abstract, art, creativity, macro, photography, shells 7 CommentsA few pics of my adventures into my shell macro world :
Technically, getting the focus right in macro is always a bit tricky [ I’m still learning what my lens can do] and I know that really patient photographers do ‘focus stacking’ – taking many shots with different focal points and then merging them into one whole with everything sharp. However – I haven’t got that sort of concentration , not to mention the acquired back-ache from sitting too long at pc plus I’m useless with Layers. But, on the other hand, I’m quite happy to have one spot in the image sharp[ish] with the softer areas leaving a bit ‘mystery’. Normally, to get everything in focus I would use a higher f number but when using my macro lens – the higher the number, the more temperamental the camera gets. Well- that’s the end of my excuses folks….
Hope to see you again tomorrow …. Eileen
Pearlised Shells
Posted: November 25, 2016 Filed under: effects, Fine Art, Nature, photography, Still Life, Uncategorized | Tags: art, creativity, pearlised, photography, photos, shells, still life Leave a commentI love shells – especially the ‘pearlised’ ones. Not living by the sea-side or in an otherwise exotic place , I have to buy mine from shops. As these are invariably located at the sea-side too, there’s not much chance of me adding to my collection. Of course I can shop on line for them, but it’s never quite the same as seeing them in the flesh is it?
I’m hankering after a large nautilus shell -pearlised or skeletonised. For years I had a really beautiful one but one day when I was setting it up for a still life, I dropped it! [I’m sure I’ve mentioned this on my blog before] anyway – it broke my heart, but I decided to ask my son to have a go at ‘skeletonising’ what was left of it – and guess what? It got dropped again and that was the end of another bright idea!!!
I’ve seen them for sale on line but so far haven’t ordered one , partly because they are soooo expensive now and partly, again, it’s best to see what you’re buying methinks …. hmm – Christmas is coming ….
Anyway – here are some post-processed offerings :
Back again tomorrow – I seem to have a back -log of quite a few pics to upload. You know the old saying about waiting for a bus don’t you? God bless, Eileen
