variation on the theme ….
That’s all for now folks, thank you for your visits and ‘likes’ – they are much appreciated. See you again soon I hope, Eileen
Roses and Orchids
Posted: April 2, 2018 Filed under: Flowers, macro, Nature, photography, Plant Portraits, Roses, Uncategorized | Tags: Flowers, macro, Olympus camera, Orchids, photography, roses 1 CommentIt was my Birthday and Mothers’ Day in quick succession this year , so I had lots of flowers, of which these are a sampling, to keep me happy with my camera !
As they are all ‘cultivated’ florist flowers/plants, I can’t give their botanical names – only that they are Roses and Orchids – but you already know that …Lol!
It’s a rainy day again today, so not much hope of me venturing out , but at the moment there’s plenty to keep my interest indoors. Living in a flat can feel quite isolated at times, but the Lord always manages to lift my spirits and there’s nothing like His beautiful flower designs to do that is there? I’m so glad He made us creative beings !
See you soon, Eileen
Catching Up!
Posted: March 23, 2018 Filed under: digital, Flowers, macro, photography, Plant Portraits, Roses, Uncategorized | Tags: close up, creativity, Flowers, Lensbaby, macro, photography 3 CommentsAfter a long absence from My Photo Blog, but not my camera, I’ve quite a bit of catching up to do here!
I thought I would start with some pics taken with my new Lensbaby Composer Pro 35mm. I’ve found it difficult to get the hang of, but when I get it right I’m very pleased with the artistic results ….
The lens itself is moveable so that you can choose the part of the subject you want in sharp focus. Much depends on your distance from the subject as well as the f/ used. For ages I couldn’t figure out why I couldn’t change my f/ number using the usual dial on my camera, till I realised I had to change it on the actual Lens – silly me !
It seems particularly suited to flower subjects – at least it is regarding the 35mm. Lensbaby have a whole variety of different lenses available and I’d hankered after owning one for ages, but as I can’t necessarily see the subtle differences between them and they tend to be very expensive, I don’t think it will be likely that I will buy any more – I’m very happy with what I’ve got ! I’d treated myself to this one as a Christmas pressy.
Ha ha – this looks like a rogue macro of the same rose, but no matter – I’ll need to look up the techy info to check, which I can’t seem to locate here ….
Well, I’ll leave it at that for now and will post some more macro flowers next I think. Bye for now, Eileen
Love-in-a-Mist
Posted: May 29, 2017 Filed under: Fine Art, Flowers, macro, Nature, photography, Plant Portraits, Uncategorized | Tags: Flowers, garden, macro, nature, photography 6 CommentsFor some reason or other my energy levels seem to have taken an upward turn recently – maybe it’s the effect of the lovely sunshine we’ve been having or the fact that my frequent ailments seem to have spent themselves for a while …. not only that – the garden has suddenly come to life with poppies and roses and has inspired my hobby!
However – I’ve chosen to entertain ya’ll with pics of a wild flower I spotted on the other side of my fence. I think it’s Love-in-a-mist but p’raps someone could enlighten me?
I’ve titled the one above ‘Catching the Drops’ because it looks as if there are a couple of tiny hands holding on to the water-drop!
That’s about it I think …. hope you like them!
Many blessings, Eileen
Birthday Flowers
Posted: March 25, 2017 Filed under: digital, Fine Art, Flowers, macro, photography, Plant Portraits, Roses, Uncategorized | Tags: art, Flowers, macro, photography, roses 5 CommentsWell, would you believe it – I celebrated my 80th Birthday recently ! I have very mixed feelings about that …. but I had some truly lovely gifts and lots of flowers. Flowers, for me, are not something to simply leave in a vase – I love to let myself loose with my camera on them. Macro photography comes into its own and I also get trigger-happy with my little water spray bottle …. so here are a few resulting pics :
I hope to post more tomorrow – Mother’s Day flowers have arrived too! Lol….
Leafy Captures
Posted: October 25, 2016 Filed under: Nature, photography, Plant Portraits, Trees, Uncategorized | Tags: autumn, leaves, nature, photography, trees, yellow Leave a commentI have the utmost confidence in saying that everybody loves Autumn [ I think !! Lol]. I went over to the Pond especially to seek out leaves that have changed to their autumn glory.
There were quite a few that had got caught up among other trees and shrubs on their way to the ground, and some were still attached to their parent tree, but without exception , they were all yellow! These pics are all in situ as found ….
I’m getting a bit like Busses – you don’t get any posts come along for a while and then you get several at once …. more from my autumn walk very soon, take care all, Eileen
Teasels
Posted: September 30, 2016 Filed under: macro, Nature, photography, Plant Portraits, Uncategorized | Tags: art, close up, macro, nature, photography, teasels 1 CommentBetter late than never – so here are my belated Teasel pics. Taken over the Pond. In my ‘flower arranging’ days when I entered lots of competitions, teasels were a great favourite – especially at Christmas time when they looked great sprayed silver or gold.
I don’t think I’ve ever caught them when they first come into bloom so I must make a mental note for next summer to look out for them again.
The first pic does show some flower but the actual shape looks a bit deformed ….

Leafy Layers
It’s marvelous how God has designed and inbuilt every species of life with stored information in the genes/DNA to pass on its characteristics to future generations. This has enabled breeders of the Heuchera plant to produce a wonderful variety of leaves and I have several in my garden. They have also crossed Heucheras with Tiarellas and produced the ‘Heucherella’ which is a very pretty smaller plant. Now, in our technological age, it seems anything is possible and a great benefit – as long as it’s kept within the boundaries that God has graciously set for us.
